Abstract: | Surveys impact of modernisation and post-Soviet economic, social and political changes on region's native population. Based on field wok conducted among Dolgany and Evenki from September 1992 to December 1993 in Taymyrskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug, and review of literature. Focuses on changes in lifestyles in light of privatisation of resources, devolution of political power and curtailment of state subsidies.
