Record #137352:

Nordlysforskning fra raketter og satelliter / Eigil Ungstrup, Inger Marie Ungstrup.

Title: Nordlysforskning fra raketter og satelliter / Eigil Ungstrup, Inger Marie Ungstrup.
Translated title: Aurora research from rockets and satellites.
Author(s): Ungstrup, Eigil.
Ungstrup, Inger Marie.
Date: 1995.
Publisher: Copenhagen: RHODOS Internationalt Forlag
Language: Danish.
In: Grønlands fysiske natur. (1995.),
Abstract: Article explains new ideas on auroras obtained from further out in space, which show that solar wind is made of mixture of electrons, protons, alpha particles and varying proportion of oxygen and carbon ions, whilst nearer than 1000 km, in ionosphere and lower magnetosphere, content is almost all oxygen ions. Result is that oxygen can be used as tracer to determine where magnetosphere's plasma comes from. Aurora is caused by electrons, which cannot have come from sun. Artificial aurora produced at Niels Bohr Institute is shown.
