| Abstract: | Reports initial results of field research in South Shetland Islands into relationships between krill, their predators, and key environmental parameters. Includes physical oceanography studies; direct krill and zooplankton sampling; bioacoustic survey of krill as prey organism; phytoplankton studies; logistics, operations, seal and seabird research at Seal Island; seabird and Adélie penguin research at Palmer station; spatial variations in krill abundance in relation to distribution of birds and marine mammals; crab and epifaunal surveys of bays, anchorages and fjords around South Georgia. |
