Abstract: | Speaker describes problem of choosing historical theory to suit actual status of Saami. He gives examples of prime movers and their goals, mainly south of Finnmark (where Saami were content to use existing political structures, probably because of feeling less swamped). Government discouragement crushed hopes of many Saami leaders. Speaker believes that sociologist P. Bourdieu may have best model for studying ethno-politics. |
