Record #136210:

Early Holocene land floras and faunas from Edgeøya, eastern Svalbard / Ole Bennike, Lars Hedenäs.

Title: Early Holocene land floras and faunas from Edgeøya, eastern Svalbard / Ole Bennike, Lars Hedenäs.
Author(s): Bennike, Ole.
Hedenäs, Lars.
Date: 1995.
In: Polar Research. (1995.), Vol. 14(2) (1995)
Abstract: Near-shore marine sediments from Visdal contain locally abundant allochthonous remains of land plants, notably bryophytes. Wetland species from mineral-rich and calcareous soils are frequent, but upland plants are common. Fossil assemblages indicate conditions similar to today's. Sediments contain one of first fossil beetles found in Svalbard. A few Armeria scabra remains are believed to derive from interglacial deposits.
