Abstract: Eight major lithostratigraphic units were recognised, seven from Late Weichselian to early Holocene period. Till deposition from west-flowing glacier was followed by glaciomarine and marine deposition. Spit-platform was built up across Visdalen bay. Sediment was alluvial and colluvial debris entrained by longshore currents. Datings suggest that fan delta deposition and spit formation ended 9 000 BP. Meltwater lagoon was formed behind spit ridge and sedimentation lasted more than 250 years. Uplift eventually drained lagoon.
