Abstract: | Eastern part of Svalbard archipelago and adjacent areas of Barents Sea were subject to extensive erosion during Late Weichselian glaciation. Small remnants of older sediments remain on Edgeøya, with more complete succession on Kongsøya, probably pre-Weichselian. Indicators in region suggest that Weichselian ice radiated from centre east of Kong Karls Land. Article describes western part of ice sheet, deglaciation and scope of Atlantic water just after this. |
