Record #136199:

Through a glass darkly: Scandinavian Saami policy in foreign perspective / Peter Jull.

Title: Through a glass darkly: Scandinavian Saami policy in foreign perspective / Peter Jull.
Author(s): Jull, Peter.
Date: 1995.
Publisher: Tromsø: Centre for Sámi Studies, University of Tromsø
In: Becoming visible : indigenous politics and self-government. (1995.),
Abstract: World expects rich, democratic and reportedly socially just countries to maintain highest standards. Faith in formal processes in Nordics is secular religion held with stubbornness once given to Pietism. In practice, apart from high standard of living, Saami have achieved less of what Canada's indigenous peoples regard as main political agenda. Saami leaders are at risk of being taken over by complacent political class. Author suggests that network of marine indigenous peoples would help Sea Saami.
