Greenland - Satellite image atlas of the world / Anker Weidick, Richard S. Williams, Jane G. Ferrigno, author & eds.
Title: | Greenland - Satellite image atlas of the world / Anker Weidick, Richard S. Williams, Jane G. Ferrigno, author & eds. |
Author(s): | Weidick, Anker, Williams, Richard S., Ferrigno, Jane G., |
Date: | 1995. |
In: | U.S. Geological Survey professional paper. (1995.), Vol. 1386-C (1995) |
Abstract: | Inland Ice is c. 1.73x10⁶ km sq. plus outliers. Detailed knowledge of thickness is available for few areas. Sketch maps show glaciation limit, flowlines, surface contours and precipitation. Total mass is approximately in equilibrium. Long-term mass-balance studies have been made in parts where hydroelectric power is considered. Landsat imagery is used as basis for discussion of glaciological features of Inland Ice, outlet glaciers, local ice caps and valley glaciers. Review of each area includes background information on geology and climatology studies of mass balance, variation and hazards. |
Notes: | U.S. Geological Survey professional paper. Vol. 1386-C :1-141 (1995). |
