| Abstract: | Survey covers Sudhur- THingeyar District and analyses relationship between breeding density of cocks and different types of heathland vegetation in 1993. Lagopus mutus has 10-year breeding cycle and study year was low year. High year numbers are about 6 times greater. Count point sites were in 7 main heath areas from coast to 50 km inland. 94 cocks were counted in early and late May. Vegetation studies were done in June-August. Data matrix of 27 plant variables x 36 sample points was analysed. |
