Sagas, eddas, myths and scaldic lays from Viking times, especially Egill Skalla-Grímsson's, set scene and archaeology confirms some details. Honour was supreme goal in life, sin meaningless, Christian Wessex perhaps puzzling, but just different culture. Article ends with description of Norse myth of world's beginning and end. |
