Abstract: Crucial point is distinction between state and nation. Ethnicity is defined term, but scholars do not agree on it, though most include descent and culture. Borders and relationships change. Nordic countries were recently seen as being good at avoiding conflict, but used not to be and may not be much longer. Examples of current variety include United States, Iceland, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Soviet Union and United Kingdom.
