Palaeomagnetic data from sedimentary rocks and dolerite dykes, Kildin Island, Rybachi, Sredni and Varanger Peninsulas, NW Russia and NE Norway: a review / Trond H. Torsvik, David Roberts, Anna Siedlecka.
Title: | Palaeomagnetic data from sedimentary rocks and dolerite dykes, Kildin Island, Rybachi, Sredni and Varanger Peninsulas, NW Russia and NE Norway: a review / Trond H. Torsvik, David Roberts, Anna Siedlecka. |
Author(s): | Torsvik, Trond H. Roberts, David. Siedlecka, Anna. |
Date: | 1995. |
Publisher: | Trondheim, Norway: Geological Survey of Norway |
In: | Geology of the Eastern Finnmark - Western Kola Peninsula Region. (1995.), |
Abstract: | Pre-folding, c. 807-680 Ma palaeomagnetic data from Kola and Varanger Peninsulas imply deposition at equatorial latitudes, negligible apparent Polar wandering, so hardly any latitudinal changes for Baltica. Secondary and post-folding components provide evidence for dramatic change in latitude during Vendian with small metamorphic event at latitudes > 60° S. Trollfjorden-Komagelva Fault Zone is major, long-lived crustal lineament, active during Late Proterozoic, Palaeozoic and later. Palaeomagnetic data for Vendian remagnetization is similar to that for Sredni; South Pole positions suggest Late Vendian-Early Cambrian age. |
