Record #135684:

Karasjok-Belomorian parautochthon (2.2-1.9 Ga) and some aspects of structural and geochemical reworking of rock complexes / Evgeni Przhijalgovsky, Evgeni Terekhov.

Title: Karasjok-Belomorian parautochthon (2.2-1.9 Ga) and some aspects of structural and geochemical reworking of rock complexes / Evgeni Przhijalgovsky, Evgeni Terekhov.
Author(s): Przhijalgovsky, Evgeni.
Terekhov, Evgeni.
Date: 1995.
Publisher: Trondheim, Norway: Geological Survey of Norway
In: Geology of the Eastern Finnmark - Western Kola Peninsula Region. (1995.),
Abstract: Geological features common to Karasjok and Belomorian Belts can be explained by superposition of nappes of Lapland Granulite Belt when they were emplaced. Although complexes reworked by thrusting differ in age and origin, tectonic structure and metamorphic grade became nearly identical during 2.2-1.9 Ga. Large-scale recumbent folds or sub-horizontal tectonic layering have been recognised by direct observation and by geophysical methods. Some folds have amplitudes of kilometres. In some cases it is possible to determine main transport directions and local trends of thrust fronts.
