Abstract: Study summarized here integrated remote-sensing, geological, geophysical and field data sets. Russian segment of zone is seismically active. Slips and folding are common, caused by multiple compressions in different directions. Extensional movement is probably of Mesozoic-Cenozoic age, contractional and slip events Caledonian. In eastern Varanger, Proterozoic Baikalian orogeny has left possible traces, more clearly seen in Russian section.
