Abstract: Outlines a computer program simulating the passage of a ship across ice covered sea. Input parameters relate to the type of ice, ship and route, mainly for the Baltic Sea. The program can determine a ship's suitability for the chosen route and conditions. A method for calculating the additional resistance caused by a compressive ice field was developed jointly with the Russian Academy of Sciences.
