| Abstract: | Collection of 13 articles presenting results of first five years of Antarctic Offshore Acoustic Stratigraphy project (ANTOSTRAT), based on presentations at International ANTOSTRAT Symposium in Siena, August 1994. Centered around improving understanding of fluctuations of Cenozoic Antarctic ice sheet and their signature in geologic record from circum-Antarctic continental margin, includes Cenozoic glacial history of Ross Sea region; examination of geologic processes in Antarctic Peninsula region based on seismic data; and innovative model-concept using grounded ice-sheets and entrained sediments to create bathymetric profile and underlying stratal geometries of Antarctic continental shelf. Multi-format publication includes seismic stratigraphic atlas with 45 maps, and two CD ROMs containing digital data. |
