Abstract: | Basement rocks consist of Precambrian Hecla Hoek schist, gneiss and amphibolite within fault-bounded block. Devonian Old Red Sandstone rocks are exposed in and west of fault zone. Balliolbreen, principal strand of fault zone, has reverse separation. Before being overlain by Carboniferous rocks, fault dipped eastwards. Folds are tight and overturned near fault. Moderate dip of individual strands of fault zone and fold pattern suggest EW compression and mainly reverse slip. |
