| Abstract: | Nature Preservation Society sees need for effective control of Sweden's 170 000 snow-scooters. Proposal to restrict scooting in mountains is toothless. Usual effects including poaching are attacked. Proposals are: to limit scooting to named trails, to reduce number of these, to ban scooting from all nature reserves, to set up scooter-free areas in population centres for skiing, to limit power of engines and set speed limits, to test noise and exhaust, to improve supervision. |
