| Abstract: | Presents results of phylogenetic analysis of 458-base pair sequence from mitochrondial cytochrome b gene from Phoca hispida, Phoca largha, Phoca vitulina, Phoca fasciata, Phoca groenlandica, Halichoerus grypus, Cystophora cristata and Erignathus barbatus. Results suggest revision of currently accepted phylogenetic relationships among Phocinae. Both neighbour-joining and parsimony indicate sister-taxon relationship between H. grypus and P. hispida. |
