Record #134729:

Distribution and life cycle of krill north of 73°N in the Barents Sea, 1984-1992 / Padmini Dalpadado, Hein Rune Skjoldal.

Title: Distribution and life cycle of krill north of 73°N in the Barents Sea, 1984-1992 / Padmini Dalpadado, Hein Rune Skjoldal.
Author(s): Dalpadado, Padmini.
Skjoldal, Hein Rune.
Date: 1995.
In: Fisken og Havet. (1995.), Vol. 16 (1995)
Abstract: Thysanoessa inermis and T. longicaudata were dominant krill species in western and central Barents Sea in period. None of species found are real Arctic species and penetrate very little into Arctic water masses in northern Barents Sea. High abundances were found on slope and adjoining deep waters south and south-east of Svalbard Bank. Main spawning is in May-June, coinciding with phytoplankton bloom. Growth took place in late winter to autumn. Both species increased during strong reduction in older capelin stock from 1984 to 1987, and decreased when capelin recovered up to 1991.
