| Abstract: | James Ross captured two strange gulls in 1823 on Melville Peninsula. They were pink underneath. Several more of these Rhodostethia rosea were spotted around Arctic Ocean in 19 Cent. Nests were eventually found by Russians near Kolyma River, so mystery of origin was solved. Notes on other sightings follow, with remarks on current viability. |
