Abstract: | In light of collapse in population of Rangifer tarandus leading to ban on hunting by Greenland Home Rule Government, author argues that management of biological resources must include entire ecosystems and not just single species; that human beings and their economic, social and culturally contingent connection with and exploitation of resources must be included as integrated part of ecosystem; and that as much administrative responsibility as possible should be placed at level of resource user. |
