Seamount volcanism at the Reykjanes Ridge: relationship to the Iceland hot spot / Laura S. Magde, Deborah K. Smith.

Title: Seamount volcanism at the Reykjanes Ridge: relationship to the Iceland hot spot / Laura S. Magde, Deborah K. Smith.
Author(s): Magde, Laura S.
Smith, Deborah K.
Date: 1995.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1995.), Vol. 100(B5) (1995)
Abstract: Axial zone of Reykjanes Ridge is covered with small volcanoes that pile together to form larger axial volcanic ridges, similar to Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Study investigates population of seamounts in three areas at Ridge. On basis of results authors present conceptual model for building shallow crust that takes into account possible of hot spot on crustal melt delivery system, associated with pulse of hot spot material.
