Title: | Size structure of Themisto abyssorum Boeck and T.libellula (Mandt) populations in European Arctic seas / J. Koszteyn, S.F. Timofeev, Jan Marcin Wȩsławski, B. Malinga. |
Author(s): | Koszteyn, J. Timofeev, S. F. Wȩsławski, Jan Marcin. Malinga, B. |
Date: | 1995. |
In: | Polar Biology. (1995.), Vol. 15(2) (1995) |
Abstract: | Two widely distributed northern hyperiid amphipods which are both key constituents of pelagic food web were studied in Barents, Greenland and Norwegian Seas. Study aimed to describe seasonal and geographic differences in size structure of populations. Length frequency was analyzed in populations from six different regions. Life span of Atlantic species T. abyssorum was found to be 1 year in southern part of area and 2 years in north. Arctic species T. libellula has life span of 2-3 years. |
