Record #133792:

Access to the "North" - but to what and for whom? Public access in the Swedish countryside and the case of a proposed National Park in the Kiruna Mountains / Klas Sandell.

Title: Access to the "North" - but to what and for whom? Public access in the Swedish countryside and the case of a proposed National Park in the Kiruna Mountains / Klas Sandell.
Author(s): Sandell, Klas.
Date: 1995.
Publisher: Chichester, England: John Wiley & Sons
In: Polar tourism : tourism in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. (1995.), Vol. 9
Abstract: Article describes reasons for enlarging park area in North Sweden and various conflicts of interest involved. "Allemansrätt" of use gives some principles, but also leaves space for private rights, which may in individual cases require recourse to courts. Zoning into levels of access has been proposed, but author considers territorial (local) approach highly advisable, in view of large population of Kiruna already using area recreationally.
