Cruise report: RRS James Clark Ross - Cruise 08, 22 July to 1 September 1994. Long-range side-scan sonar investigations of the polar North Atlantic: patterns and processes of sedimentation on a glaciated passive continental margin / J.A. Dowdeswell, N.H. Kenyon.
Title: | Cruise report: RRS James Clark Ross - Cruise 08, 22 July to 1 September 1994. Long-range side-scan sonar investigations of the polar North Atlantic: patterns and processes of sedimentation on a glaciated passive continental margin / J.A. Dowdeswell, N.H. Kenyon. |
Author(s): | Dowdeswell, J. A. Kenyon, N. H. |
Date: | 1995. |
Publisher: | Aberystwyth, Wales: Centre for Glaciology, University of Wales |
Abstract: | Achieved the objective to acquire long-range side-scan sonar imagery using GLORIA (Geological Long Range Inclined Asdic), in order to determine the major sedimentary processes along the Polar North Atlantic margin. About 300,000 sq.km. of the continental slope and deep ocean floor was mapped. A preliminary conceptual model of glacier influenced sedimentation is described. |
