Grønlands økonomiske udvikling. Hvad skal der til for at lukke gabet? / Martin Paldam.

Title: Grønlands økonomiske udvikling. Hvad skal der til for at lukke gabet? / Martin Paldam.
Translated title: Greenland's economic development. What should be done to close the gap?.
Author(s): Paldam, Martin.
Date: 1994.
Publisher: Aarhus, Denmark: Aarhus Universitetsforlag
Language: Danish.
Abstract: Author tackles fact that Greenland stays afloat economically only through Danish subsidy. Prices are 25% higher in Greenland than in Denmark. He discusses cases of Faroes, Iceland and Nunavut, devotes whole chapter to fishing economies and their problems of stock maintenance, and projects five scenarios: 1. nothing new; 2. over-fishing crisis; 3. developing large and successful mine; 4. tourist boom; 5."World Bank cure" following rupture from Denmark. Conclusion is that Greenland has to become "normal" country, with private enterprise taking over economy from paternalist-socialist pattern that has prevailed and held island back for 40+ years. Unfortunately linguistic handicap is twice that of Denmark, itself small-language country.
