Abstract: History of three-masted sailing ship built in Dundee in 1900 for Scott's 1901-04 National Antarctic Expedition; used in oceanographic surveys of Southern Ocean in 1920s; and by Mawson for BANZARE in 1929-31. Also served in rescue of Shackleton's men from Elephant Island; as supply ship for Hudson's Bay Company; and as munitions carrier to Eastern Front in First World War. Contemporary accounts complemented by well chosen illustrations.
