Nutritional status in pine forest in the Pechenganickel Company surroundings / Natalia Lukina, Vyacheslav Nikonov.

Title: Nutritional status in pine forest in the Pechenganickel Company surroundings / Natalia Lukina, Vyacheslav Nikonov.
Author(s): Lukina, Natalia.
Nikonov, Vyacheslav.
Date: 1994.
Publisher: Svanvik, Norway: Svanhovd Environmental Centre
Abstract: Uptake of Ca, Mg, K, Mn, Fe, Al, Zn, Cu and Ni in vascular plants in pine forest area near Cu-Ni smelter at Nikel was investigated. Levels of bio-available Ni, Cu, Fe near smelter correlated positively with levels in plants. Plants had higher accumulation of K in photosynthetic organs, while soil had decrease in bio-available K. Soil base saturation declined as saturation with +ve ions of Ni, Cu, Fe and Al increased in humus horizons. Total and exchangeable acidity significantly increased in A₂ horizons and decreased in Bhfa and BC horizons with increasing distance from smelter.
