| Abstract: | Talk gives figures for stock, catch and in many cases age distribution for four main commercial species (cod, haddock, saithe, redfish) - (Gadus morhua, Melanogrammus aeglefinus, Pollachius virens, Sebastes marinus) - over periods of up to 90 years. Numbers caught by foreign fleets are shown, and effect of 200 mile limit and other conservation measures may be seen in graphs. Other species, including deep sea by-catches, are mentioned. Several ICES and NAFO reports are quoted. |
