Abstract: Article tells story of trained doctor who was eventually accepted in Kautokeino as expert on mechanisms, but obviously no use for disease, as local healers knew causes and cures for such. Examples are given and finally author describes Christian faith healer, Johannes Brateng, who treated 8000 in his busiest year.
