Record #131839:

An environmental impact assessment after a subsea natural gas pipeline failure in the Barents Sea / Helena Hyttinen, Martti Järveläinen.

Title: An environmental impact assessment after a subsea natural gas pipeline failure in the Barents Sea / Helena Hyttinen, Martti Järveläinen.
Author(s): Hyttinen, Helena.
Järveläinen, Martti.
Date: 1994.
Publisher: Luleå: Danish Polar Center
In: PolarTech '94. International Conference on Development and Commercial Utilization of Technologies in Polar Regions, March 22-25 1994. Luleå, Sweden. Proceedings. (1994.),
Abstract: Paper discusses pipeline failures, from small leakage to very long rupture, and effects natural gas released will have on Arctic environment. Study is largely based on existing literature. Amount of released gas is calculated as well as concentration in entrained water and dimensions of bubble plume. Effect of ice is also considered, and chemical effects following subsea natural gas release and effects on marine organisms studied.
