Record #131634:

Communication and identity in the Arctic / Michel Perrot.

Title: Communication and identity in the Arctic / Michel Perrot.
Author(s): Perrot, Michel.
Date: 1994.
Publisher: Copenhagen: Danish Polar Center
In: From Greenland to Chukotka - contributions to a Franco-Danish meeting on recent research in the Eskimo world. (1994.), III
Abstract: Analysis of broadcasting systems in Greenland and Siberia shows that communication between Inuit rediscovers certain rights, but is inserted in complex airway. When theories proposed reduce debate to simple opposition between Inuit and Whites and studies on effects are admittedly thin and contradictory, audience studies and observation of behaviour throw light on link which unites media and magic. Article summarises author's works.
