Abstract: In summer 1992 scientists took 3000 m ice cores from top of Inland Ice in Greenland. These gave information about weather conditions in northern Atlantic over last 250,000 years. Weather seems to have stayed within certain bounds until last 10,000 years, which had important consequences for cultural climate of present era. Article describes various core series and their links, besides current large-scale "conveyor belt" linking cold-warm water circulation from Atlantic to Pacific and back.
