Abstract: Advocates establishment of international system of large-scale protected ecosystems, both terrestrial and marine, where overriding purpose is protection of natural diversity and conservation of fish and wildlife populations and habitats. Proposes three transnational areas and one new protected area in United States: Caribou Commons Biocultural Reserve (northern Alaska/Yukon); Beringia Heritage International Park (Alaska/Chukotka Peninsula); 'Arctic Ring of Life' International Marine Biocultural Reserve; Bering Sea Ecosystem; and Kasegaluk Lagoon (Alaska)
