Abstract: Two dominant hyperiid amphipod species were found in western and central Barents Sea, Themisto abyssorum and T. libellula, former boreal and sub-Arctic with one-year life cycle, releasing young in May-June. Latter is Arctic and seems to release young earlier and have longer breeding period. Both release young during spring phytoplankton bloom in Barents Sea. Article gives full details and comments on predator-prey interactions with capelin.
