Abstract: Second German North Polar Expedition was inspired by Dr. A.Petermann and led by Capt. K.Koldewey and was best prepared and best supplied Greenland expedition for many years. Koldewey reached 77°N by sledge and discovered and mapped Kaiser Franz Joseph's Fjord on their way home. Article desribes also heroic struggles of Hansa's crew under Capt. P.Hegemann to reach safety in SW Greenland.
