The strandflat problem in five high latitude countries / André Guilcher, Jean-Claude Bodéré, Armel Coudé, James D. Hansom, Annik Moign, Jean-Pierre Peulvast.
Title: | The strandflat problem in five high latitude countries / André Guilcher, Jean-Claude Bodéré, Armel Coudé, James D. Hansom, Annik Moign, Jean-Pierre Peulvast. |
Author(s): | Guilcher, André. Bodéré, Jean-Claude. Coudé, Armel. Hansom, James D. Moign, Annik. Peulvast, Jean-Pierre. |
Date: | 1994. |
Publisher: | Chichester: John Wiley & Sons |
In: | Cold climate landforms. (1994.), |
Abstract: | Defined by Hansom as partly submerged undulating rocky lowland close to sea level. Problem of origin is unreolved, but two theories predominate: (1) product of frost action and impact of icefoot, and (2) product of marine erosion with later glacial modification. Here, five classic examples of strandflats from five countries (Spitsbergen, Norway, Iceland, Eire, South Shetlands, Antarctica) are presented, reviewed and discussed. |
Notes: | In: Cold climate landforms / David J.A. Evans, ed. Translated from Revue de Géologie Dynamique et de Géographie Physique 1986, 27 :47-79. |
