Abstract: | Neutron diffraction measurements nade for water and ice (D₂O) in porous silica of 60Å size over temperature range of --50 to 20°C. Formation of cubic ice is confirmed and temperature difference function analysis shows that defective crystal structure is identical for vacuum filling factors, f=1.0, 0.6 and 0.4, suggesting that high proton mobility observed for these systems is more probably due to crystal defects than to interfacial pathways. |
