Record #130424:

Boulder depressions in central Sweden -- remnants of a pre-Late Weichselian landscape? / Clas Hättestrand.

Title: Boulder depressions in central Sweden -- remnants of a pre-Late Weichselian landscape? / Clas Hättestrand.
Author(s): Hättestrand, Clas.
Date: 1994.
In: Geografiska Annaler. Series A. Physical Geography. (1994.), Vol. 76A(3) (1994)
Abstract: These are boulder-filled shallow depressions created by frost heave in loose deposits. Shows that areas of directional moraine (signs of active warm-based ice) lack boulder depressions. Could be results of two possibilities: unfavourable conditions for boulder depression formation in drumlinized/Rogen moraine areas, or differential Late Weichselian erosion of pre-existing evenly distributed boulder depressions. Concludes that second alternative is most likely.
Notes:

Geografiska Annaler. Series A. Physical Geography. Vol. 76A(3) :153-160 (1994).

Keywords: 551.33 -- Glacial geology.
551.331.5 -- Glacial erosion and protection. Sub-glacial topography.
E7 -- Glaciology: glacial geology and ice ages.
(*57) -- Sweden.
