Record #130392:

Climate variations over Europe over the past 140 kyr deduced from rock magnetism / Nicolas Thouveny, and 10 others.

Title: Climate variations over Europe over the past 140 kyr deduced from rock magnetism / Nicolas Thouveny, and 10 others.
Author(s): Thouveny, Nicolas.
Date: 1994.
In: Nature. (1994.), Vol. 371(6497) (1994)
Abstract: Reviews GRIP and GISP2 oxygen isotope records from Greenland ice cores and implications for interpretation of palaeoclimates and for predicting future climate, warmed by greenhouse effect. Presents magnetic susceptibility, pollen and organic carbon records from maar lake deposits in Massif Central, France, which provide independent record of past climate and correlate well with ice-core records during last glacial. During Eemian, two rapid cooling events seen in record also correlate with those in GRIP ice core, supporting idea that rapid climate change occurred in Eemian interglacial and demonstrating that it extended to continental Europe.
