Record #130293:

Ice forces on conical piers - numerical and development of design equations / Ahmed Derradji-Aouat.

Title: Ice forces on conical piers - numerical and development of design equations / Ahmed Derradji-Aouat.
Author(s): Derradji-Aouat, Ahmed.
Date: 1994.
Publisher: Montreal: Canadian Society for Civil Engineering
In: Cold Regions Engineering : Proceeding of 7th International Cold Regions Engineering Specialty Conference : theme "Global Perspective" : March 7-9, 1994, Edmonton, Alberta. (1994.),
Abstract: Application of Canadian design codes result in very conservative estimations of ice load. Here, it is recognizes that complexities of ice--structure interactions dictate that method of calculating ice loads on offshore structures should be numerical. Finite element study is conducted to examine effect of ice-floe size, ice thickness, and tensile strength of ice on magnitude of ice loads. Results are used to develop design chart and equations for quick estimates of ice loads on conical piers.
