Abstract: Uses spatially explicit model to simulate disturbance of moulting population of Branta bernicla nigricans resulting from aircraft traffic along various flight lines in vicinity of Teshekpuk Lake, Alaska North Slope. Relates repeated helicopter disturbance to body condition of individual birds in model, and adjusts altitude and pattern of helicopter traffic to reduce disturbance along individual flight lines.
