Abstract: Fjellgård was old people's home, started in 1908, with support from Women's Missionary Society under Countess Maria Bernadotte. Old people used to go home to hills in summer; moreover, they felt far from home and friends at Fjellgård and thrown in with Swedes. In 1953 and 1981 plans for modernising home were put forward. Another focus of interest in 1950s was Sjougen Drama; Saami were accused of murdering some settlers in 1812 and case was brought up again in local Sunday supplement.
