Publisher: Piscataway, NJ: Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
In: IGARSS'94 : International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium : Surface and Atmospheric Remote Sensing: Technologies, Data Analysis and Interpretation : California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California USA, August 8-12, 1994. (1994.), Vol.2.
Abstract: Applies results from previous analyses of effects of sensor spatial resolution and atmospheric attenuation on retrieval of lead characteristics from satellite visible and thermal data. Attenuation of upwelling thermal radiation by ice-crystal precipitation, aerosols and clouds has been modelled and is discussed in context of lead detectability. Statistical and empirical models of effects of sensor resolution are presented in context of lead-width estimation. Data collected during LEADEX 92 programme in Beaufort Sea during March and April 1992 are used for validation.
