Record #129927:

Snowfall series of Turin, 1784-1992: climatological analysis and action on structures / Ezio Leporati, Luca Mercalli.

Title: Snowfall series of Turin, 1784-1992: climatological analysis and action on structures / Ezio Leporati, Luca Mercalli.
Author(s): Leporati, Ezio.
Mercalli, Luca.
Date: 1994.
In: Annals of Glaciology. (1994.), Vol. 19 (1994)
Abstract: Unpublished records have been analyzed and resultant numerical data have been filed on magnetic tape. Snowfall behaviour through these two centuries is discussed: during whole period, negative trend is exhibited, increasing after 1890. This change derives from regional climate rather than expansion of urban area. Return periods of yearly maximum snow loads are calculated in order to contribute to definition of new values for structural design. Case study of heavy snowfall in January 1987 is examined.
