Glacier modeling and the climate of Patagonia during the last glacial maximum / Nick Hulton, David E. Sugden, Antony J. Payne, Chalmers M. Clapperton.
Title: | Glacier modeling and the climate of Patagonia during the last glacial maximum / Nick Hulton, David E. Sugden, Antony J. Payne, Chalmers M. Clapperton. |
Author(s): | Hulton, Nick. Sugden, David E. Payne, Antony J. Clapperton, Chalmers M. |
Date: | 1994. |
In: | Quaternary Research. (1994.), Vol. 42(1) (1994) |
Abstract: | Describes model which is time-dependent and is driven by changing mass-balance/altitude relationship. Assuming that limits of Patagonian ice cap at last glaciation are known, it is possible to identify modelled climatic changes that are necessary to grow ice cap of extent similar to its maximum limits. Although idea of using empirical evidence to constrain theoretical models is relatively simple, it necessitates assumptions which may be difficult to validate at present. |
