Record #129706:
Macroforms, large bedforms and rhythmic sedimentary sequences in subglacial eskers, south-central Ontario: implications for esker genesis and meltwater regime / Tracy A. Brennand.
Title: | Macroforms, large bedforms and rhythmic sedimentary sequences in subglacial eskers, south-central Ontario: implications for esker genesis and meltwater regime / Tracy A. Brennand. |
Author(s): | Brennand, Tracy A. |
Date: | 1994. |
Abstract: | Considers landform associations, morphology and sedimentology, including clast lithology, sphericity and roundness, of Late Wisconsinan eskers. Four eskers are examined in detail. Large bedforms, macroforms and sedimentary sequences are identified, described and interpreted with respect to esker morphology and meltwater regime responsible for their formation. Attempt is made to relate esker sedimentology systematically to external morphology by invoking formative processes in uniformitarian manner. Model of synchronous subglacial sedimentation for large Pleistocene eskers, where ice-marginal sedimentation was, at most, minor component of esker sedimentation, is presented. Sediment supply and dynamics of glacial hydrologic system are investigated. |
