Author(s): | Morgan, V. Wehrle, E. Fleming, A. Richardson, M. Elcheikh, Alan. Brand, R. |
Date: | 1994. |
In: | National Institute of Polar Research. Memoirs. Special Issue. (1994.), Vol. 49 (1994) |
Abstract: | Ice drilling project was designed to obtain full-depth core for high-resolution studies of Holocene and transition from last glacial maximum. New electromechanical drill based on ISTUK design was used. Field work started in 1988; in February 1993, drilling reached silty ice with small rock fragments at depth of 1200 m. Details of drill and of drilling operation are presented. |
